Greenland
- Ice sheets account for over 80% of Greenland’s land mass, and most towns and settlements are found on the western coast of the country including the capital Nuuk.
No real conventional transportation can be found especially as there is little or no roads, so to wander through Greenland is to wander free. Ice fish with the locals, gasp in awe at Greenland’s beautiful fjords and mountains or take a trip to the North Pole. Most visitors use a mixture of helicopter, ski, or dog sled to explore this vast and unfettered land. Other than skiing, Kayaking and rock climbing are two of the other major pursuits that visitors to Greenland can enjoy.
Many visitors gather around the Arctic Circle to watch the aurora borealis: the natural display of lights seen best in countries such as Greenland due to its’ proximity to the North Pole.
