In terms of land mass, Canada is the second largest country in the world measuring some 9,984,670km2. With the United States of America to the South, the Pacific Ocean to the West, Atlantic to the East and the Arctic Sea to the North.
Montreal exemplifies the cultural diversity of Canada. Although English is spoken widely, the official language of the City is French. Montreal is the second largest city in the country but neither it nor Toronto (with its’ 8 million inhabitants) are the nations’ capital; with that honour going to Ottawa. All three cities are situated in the east of the country in close proximity to the border with the USA. The main highlight in this area of Canada is Niagara Falls which attracts over 12 million visitors per year. The Niagara Falls are renowned both for their beauty and as a valuable source of hydroelectric power.
To the extreme west of Canada is the beautiful city of Vancouver, situated in close proximity to Alaska and the Pacific. To the east of Vancouver lie the Rocky Mountains and a Ski and Snowboarders paradise in and around the lively town of Whistler.
