  • Guinea-Bissau is a small West African country bordering Guinea and Senegal.
    Fomerly of Portugese territory, the country's independence suffered with civil war raging in the 1990's.

    With a friendly atmosphere, the country has beaches and rainforest to explore.  The biggest attraction is the group of islands off the coast of Guinea-Bissau called the Bijagós Archipelago.  Here you can enjoy quiet, white sandy beaches and see some great nature and wildlife including a rare breed of hippopotamus.

    Things have improved and tourism is growing, but the assassination of President Vieira in March 2009 has again left people hesitant in visiting the beautiful mainland and surrounding islands.
